The Main Directorate of State Expertise of Russia reviewed the design documentation and engineering survey results related to reconstruction of the polypropylene production unit of Poliom LLC. Based on the state examination results, a favorable opinion was provided.

The Poliom plant, being the joint asset of SIBUR and Gazprom Neft, built in Omsk in 2012, is currently one of the leading Russian polypropylene producers.

The design documentation that has received a favorable opinion from the Main Directorate of State Expertise of Russia, provides for reconstruction of the polypropylene production unit. The main project objective is to stabilize the polymerization process parameters and quality indicators of the resulting polymer by purifying the propane-propylene fraction, as well as to perform polishing propylene treatment to the polymer purity.

The main process equipment of the plant includes a propylene drying column, as well as two reactors with application of the specialized high-performance catalysts and adsorbents developed specially for Poliom by a foreign licensor company.

The cleaning capacity of the propane-polypropylene fraction is about 18-35 tons per hour, the performance of the polishing propylene treatment is about 15-27 tons per hour. The designed structures should be installed inside the available units.

Igor Tikhonov, director general of Poliom:

“Cleaning of raw materials to the polishing purity degree will stabilize the polypropylene production process, as well as reduce the catalyst consumption, as a result of which the environmental load of production process will be reduced. Any changes in the process are assessed primarily with regard to ecological aspects. Priority is given to those solutions that make the production site even safer for people and nature”.
